A Trip to So Cal

Dave and I just returned from a much-needed (and, might I add, long-overdue) vaca to San Diego. It doesn't seem possible, but this was our first getaway just the two of us since our honeymoon almost 7 years ago. Crazy how time flies! We do a lot of traveling, but it's mainly to see family, visit friends, attend weddings, or joining Dave on a work trip. We figured we better sqeeze one in before another 7 years passes us by.

Thanks to Dave's mom who so graciously stayed at our house to be with Will, we were able to have a carefree vacation. We've traveled so much with Will over the past year and a half, that we almost didn't know what to do with ourselves in the airports and on the plane (okay, so not exactly, but you know what I mean).

We stayed in the Gaslamp District at a place called the Ivy Hotel. The hotel itself had a great atmosphere, but our favorite location was the rooftop deck. There's a pool on the rooftop, as well as seating areas, and a restaurant/bar area. As you would imagine, it provided a great view of the city.

We had fun exploring the area, and were able to get some insider tips prior to venturing out. Our favorite day was spent in the town of La Jolla. Situated along the Pacific, it was a quaint town with lots of restaurants, shops, and beachfront property. We tend to be book nerds, so we found a local coffeeshop with outdoor seating and sipped coffee while reading our books under the California sun. Pretty sure I could get used to that :) We also ate at lunch at a restaurant with the most breathtaking view...I won't even post a pic of that because it honestly will not do it justice!

Below are a few more pics from our trip...
